This definitely looks fun and I’m psyched for my New Year’s Day hungover Sherlock viewing. But some of it looks to be done in the style of the Robert Downey Jr. movies. Do you think this is an intentional homage? I like the effect, even if it’s not original.
This is all we’ll get of them until 2017 it seems, so I hope it’s good! TBH I’m looking forward to seeing how Moriarty comes back, so while I’m happy to have this tidbit one-off I am still feeling impatient for the next season to return….
England loves a Christmas special. (Really, who doesn’t? They’re usually heartwarming in a way that leaves me smiling a watery smile.) And because the stars of Sherlock are too booked to film Season 4, they’ve done a one-off episode to tide us over (recent reports indicate we might be waiting until 2017 for the next season!!).
Admittedly, it looks kinda cheesy, but it stars Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy, Andrew Scott (Sherlock’s Moriarty) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey’s Sybil Crawley) so I’ll be going for suresies…
This animated video is kick-ass for a lot of reasons. One, it shows an all-kinds-of-diverse fangirl club whose chairperson is called ‘Headmaster’. Two, its walls are adorned with Doctor Who posters and its members wear garb from various fandoms – Star Trek, GoT, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. Third, the Headmaster spanks the group with the FOMO paddle to force them to agree to go watch Ant Man. As someone who just last night refused an invitation to go see it, this video is giving me pause to consider the ramifications of my decision.
The truth is out! Alan Rickman is not always the brooding, cape-wearing formidable professor we’ve come to know and love. (Sadly.) Here he is breathing helium and talking about his most famous role.
And here, the impersonations they refer to, starting Jimmy Fallon and our fave sleuth, Benedict Cumberbatch!
The universe produced a double rainbow for Ireland after its population voted in favour of marriage equality for The Gays. I’m pretty sure that’s God giving Ireland a double thumbs up.
Our fave TV crazybrains, Moriarty – aka Andrew Scott – was out in support of the vote.
Petyr Baelish – aka Aiden Gillen (whoa! Check out what he looks like in real life! Way less of a creeper.) – did a promotional video in support of the Yes side.
Sometimes I have a hard time appreciating two different versions of the same character. Specifically, I love Sherlock and so even though I’m a big fan of Johnny Lee Miller, I can’t get down with Elementary. But Mr. Holmes looks great, and Sir Ian McKellen is gonna kill it just as kills every other part he plays. He is most excellent, don’t you agree?
Sherlock is great at unlocking other people’s secrets, but apparently quite adept at keeping his own. An old-fashioned engagement announcement in at British newspaper is what let the world know that Benedict Cumberbatch will be marrying Sophie Hunter. Who?
Hunter is a 36-year-old graduate of the University of Oxford and an award-winning theater director. After graduating with a degree in modern languages from Oxford, she was accepted to the Jacques Lecoq school of theater in Paris. In 2007, she received the Samuel Beckett award for writing and directing her own play, The Terrific Electric. She’s also directed several operas, including Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. She’s even recorded her own French language album. ~ http://time.com/3558361/benedict-cumberbatch-finacee-sophie-hunter/
Smart, talented, beautiful, and (thankfully) right around his age… you sure can’t hold it against him. Although Cumberbitches around the world are likely sharpening knives, practicing dart target on her photo and changing their cell phone codes from SHER [- locked] (see S2 Ep1). Maybe he’ll sing that sweet little diddy from August: Osage County to his bride-to-be – I hope so. Mazel tov!
[time lapses] Ok, I just got caught up in watching a bunch of the cartoon spoofs these peeps put out, so I’m posting them here for your viewing pleasure. Spoiler alert: If you watch the one about Sherlock, be forewarned that he spoils the plots for many popular shows including Breaking Bad and Mad Men!
